Word 2003 offered the My Places bar. It could be customized to show frequently used folders on your computer.
By customizing the My Places bar, you could save and open files without having to navigate through multiple folders.
In Word 2007, My Places was replaced with Favorite Links, an interface reminiscent of Windows Explorer. Fortunately, Favorite Links is even easier to customize!
To customize Word 2007's Favorite Links, follow these easy steps:
1. Click Ctrl+O to open the Open dialog box
2. If necessary, click Favorite Links in the left pane to display the Favorite Links area
3. In the Folders section, navigate to the folder for which you'd like to create a shortcut
4. Drag and drop the folder to the Favorite Links section
5. You can rearrange the order of Favorite Links by dragging and dropping.
Next time you open the Open or Save dialog boxes, your folder will appear in the Favorite Links section. You won't need to navigate through the Folders list to find your file location!
