Changing the Ribbon Layout and Tools

From , former About.com Guide

The Office ribbon is a handy way to access the tools and controls you need in Microsoft Word. But there is always room for improvement. Maybe you'd like to rearrange the controls on one of the ribbons. Or, maybe you'd like to change the ribbon tabs that appear.

Fortunately, in Word 2010, you're given the option of customizing the ribbon layout. You won't have to search for the tools you need, and it will make you a more efficient worker.

To customize the ribbon in Word, click File and select Options. Click Customize Ribbon. You'll be able to select which tabs to show on the ribbon. You'll also be able to select the commands that appear on each tab.

You may want to make the same customizations on multiple machines. For example, you may want the same layout at home as you have at work. In that case, you can share your customizations between machines. Click Import/Export and opt to Export All Customizations. You can then transfer the customization file to a different computer.
