Removing Formatting From Specific Areas of Your Document

By James Marshall, About.com

Sometimes you will want to remove the formatting you applied to a specific portion of your document. But if you’ve applied a lot of different formatting elements, this can be tedious. Fortunately, there is an easy way.

Highlight the portion of your document from which you would like to remove the formatting. In the Style drop-down box on the Formatting toolbar, select Clear Formatting. Alternately, you can select Clear Formatting on the Styles and Formatting task pane.

This will remove formatting at the character and at the paragraph level, if you select an entire paragraph.
