Removing a Separating Line From Your Word Document

From , former About.com Guide

It is easy to insert a line in your Word document to separate different sections. For example, you can insert three dashes, asterisks or equal signs on a blank line. When you press return, Word will insert a particular type of line in your document.

Unfortunately, if you want to remove this line, things aren't so easy. If you try deleting it, only the surrounding text is affecting. And clicking on the line only lets you move it.

You're not stuck with this annoying line in your document, though. You just need to use the right tools to remove it. And that means you need to understand the line. It isn't like other elements in your document. Rather, it is a border.

To remove the border from your document, position your cursor immediately above or below the border. Then, on the Home ribbon, click the Borders and Shading button in the Paragraph section. Select the icon with no borders. This will remove the border from your document.
