The second set of buttons on the formatting toolbar could easily be removed to free up a modicum of screen space! Their shortcuts are so obvious (Ctrl + the first letter of the command name), that, after you use them once or twice, you’ll never use their toolbar buttons again.

Bold: Bolds the selected text or text you are entering.
Italic: Italicizes the selected text or text you are entering.
Underline: Underlines the selected text or text you are entering.
