Should You Upgrade to Office 2007?

When Microsoft releases a new version of Word and Office, an upgrade isn’t usually necessary. The changes are often minor. But some users may be drawn to a new or improved feature.

But Microsoft Office 2007 is a major update to the office suite. First, the look is completely different.

But more importantly, the file formats are different than in previous versions of Office. For many, this will necessitate an upgrade.

Businesses will probably transition to Office 2007 incrementally. Home users will upgrade as they see fit.

But if you want to share documents with others running Word 2007, you should upgrade. It will also ensure that you will have access to your documents in the years to come.

The new file formats do have their benefits, too. They promise smaller files sizes and improved stability.

So the question isn’t if you should upgrade, but when.
