Preview Microsoft Word 2007

By James Marshall, About.com

Microsoft will release Office 2007 early next year. The popular office suite will feature a new look. But more importantly, files will be saved in a different format than Office 2003.

Because Office 2007 will have new file formats, files created in Office 2007 won’t be compatible with Office 2003. For many users, this will make it necessary to upgrade.

You may want to get a jump start on Office 2007 since the look of the programs is remarkably different from Office 2003. Or maybe you just want to get a sneak peek at the new Word.

You can test drive Word 2007 and the other Office components at Microsoft’s site. Or, you can order a copy of the Microsoft Office 2007 beta on DVD. There is a small charge for the DVD.

Included on the DVD are the following programs:
Access
Excel
Groove
InfoPath
OneNote
Outlook
Outlook with Business Contact Manager
PowerPoint
Project
Publisher
SharePoint Designer
Visio
Word

System Requirements:
Windows XP Service Pack 2
500 MHz processor (1 GHz if installing Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager)
256 MB RAM (512 MB if installing Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager)
DVD drive
2 GB hard drive space for installation; some space will be freed after installation
