Changing the Default Document Formatting in Google Docs

From , former About.com Guide

When you create a document in Google Docs, it automatically applies the default font style, line spacing and background color to the document. It is easy enough to change any of these elements for part or all of your document. But you can make things easy on yourself by changing the default document settings.

To change the default document settings in Google Docs, follow these easy steps:

1. Open a new document in Google Docs

2. Click Format on the Google Docs toolbar and select Document settings

3. In the box that opens, use the dropdown boxes to select the font and font size

4. Use the dropdown box to specify the document line spacing

5. You can apply a background color by entering a color code or by using the popup color picker

6. Check the document settings in the Preview window 7. Select Make these the default styles for all new documents

8. Click OK.
