Using Templates in Google Docs

If you’re looking for a quick way to create a specific type of document, consider using a template. Templates contain formatting and boilerplate text. All you have to do is add the document content. There are thousands of templates for Google Docs created by different users.

To find and use templates in Google Docs, follow these quick steps:

1. On the Google Docs home page, click Create new

2. On the popup menu, select From template

3. Google’s Template Gallery will open in a new tab

4. Click Documents under Narrow by type

5. You can preview Google Docs templates by clicking Preview next to a template

6. Click Use this template to select a template

A new document based on the template will open in a new tab. You can edit the template as you would any other document.
