Aligning Images and Text in Word 2007

From , former About.com Guide

When you're proofing your documents, you'll want to look at spacing and alignment carefully. It can be difficult to determine if text, pictures, and other elements line up perfectly. But, Word provides a couple of features that make this job easier: rulers and gridlines.

Rulers appear at the top and to left of the document area. These can help you align text and images in your document. But, they're disabled by default.

To turn the rulers on in Word 2007, open the View ribbon. In the Show/Hide section, select Ruler.

Gridlines are even more helpful than rulers when it comes to aligning document elements. Light gray gridlines are placed over the editable area of the document.

To turn on gridlines in your document, open the View ribbon. In the Show/Hide section, select Gridlines.
