Word 2007 -- Reading View
Reading View was introduced in Word 2003. Reading View is designed to make reading documents on the screen easier.
Reading View does have its benefits. Text is displayed in ClearType, making it easier to read. Additionally, you can adjust the size of the text without affecting the document.
Word will also display the Reviewing toolbar. This makes it easy to add comments and control tracked changes.
Reading View does not display the document as it would appear if printed. So it is not appropriate for viewing documents with complex formatting. Graphical text and text in tables is not resized for the screen.
When you open an emailed document from Outlook, Word automatically displays it in Reading View. If you prefer one of Word's other views, this can be a nuisance.
If you don't like Reading View, you can disable it for email attachments in a few quick steps:
1. Click the Office button
2. Select Word Options
3. Click Popular in the left column
4. Deselect "Open e-mail attachments in Full Screen Reading View"
