Inserting a Table in a Word 2008 Document

Tables are a handy way to arrange data in a Word document. With tables, you can align columns and rows easily. And, Word 2008 lets you AutoFormat your table. With the click of button, your table is formatting to your liking.

To get started with tables in Word 2008, follow these steps:

1. Click Table and select Insert>Table

2. Specify the number of columns you would like

3. Specify the number of rows to insert in your table

4. Use the Initial column width box to specify column width in inches

5. You can also have the table AutoFit to table contents or AutoFit to the window

6. If you would like, you can AutoFormat your table. Colors and styles will be applied to the table’s contents

7. When you’re done, click OK.

The table will appear in your document. Click in a table cell to begin entering data. You can alter the appearance of the table at a later time. Just select the table and right-click it. Choose your formatting options from the contextual menu.
