By James Marshall, About.com

A nicely designed cover page is often a necessity with certain types of documents. For example, many professors require a cover page for academic papers. But, a cover page is the finishing touch that will make any document stand out.

Creating a cover page can be tricky. You need to worry about font sizes and formatting. You also need to get the spacing of your cover page correct. Otherwise, it will look sloppy. Fortunately, Word 2008 for Mac makes it easy to insert a cover page. It includes many predesigned styles from which you can choose. You can also customize one of these styles to suit your tastes.

Just follow these steps to insert a cover page in a Mac Word 2008 document:

1. Click Document Elements at the top of the Word Window

3. Click the Cover Page you would like to insert. Use the scroll button for more options

4. After you click a Cover Page, it will be appended to the beginning of your document

5. Customize the Cover Page to suit your needs.
