Creating Your Own Styles in Word

The New Style Dialog Box

The New Style Dialog Box

There are a variety of styles pre-defined in Word for you to use. But you may want to create your own. The easiest way to create a style is to base it on a portion of existing text. First, apply formatting such as bold, italics, underline, font color and font size. You can also include alignment, margins, line spacing, and indents. In the Styles and Formatting task pane, click the New Style button. Type a name for the style in the Name box.
