Learning all of Word 2003's shortcut keys is no easy task. You'll want to memorize the shortcut keys for frequently used commands. But, you don't need to memorize all of the shortcut keys in Word. Instead, you can display them with ScreenTips. When you hold your mouse over a button, you will see the associated shortcut key. It's a great way to learn.
Just follow these simple steps to display shortcut keys in ScreenTips:
1. From the Tools menu, select Customize.
2. In the Customize dialog box click the Options tab.
3. Under Other, select the Show ScreenTips on toolbars and Show shortcut keys in ScreenTips check boxes.
When you hold the mouse pointer over a command button on one of the toolbars, a box will appear naming the command and showing the shortcut key for the command.
If you have other components of the Office suite installed on your computer, this change will affect all of them.
If you're using Word 2007, you can show Word's shortcut keys inside ScreenTips. You can also print a list of all the shortcut key assignments.
