Quick Selection

By , About.com Guide

It’s happened to the best of us: we’re using the mouse to select something in a document, but we can’t seem to select everything we want because the selection is too big (or maybe it is the window that is too small!).

In situations like that, there is an easy solution to the problem – the shift key. By holding down the shift key while using one of the navigational shortcut keys (this trick should work in conjunction with most of them), Word will select the text (and other objects0 as you navigate past it.

You can also use it with the mouse. Click at the beginning of the text block you wish to select and hold the shift key when you click at the end of the block of text you wish to select.

It couldn’t be any easier!
