Word 2007 offers many improvements over previous versions of Word. But, Word 2007 does have its annoyances. For example, Word 2007 automatically adds a space between paragraphs of the same style. And, the space cannot be deleted by using the backspace key. To learn how to remove the space -- and stop if from appearing, read this quick tip.

I use Office Word 2003.
I clicked on “Format”, then on the “Paragraph” which produced the Paragraph box. In that box, under “Indents and Spacing” option, tried to do as you suggest but the “Don’t add space between paragraphs of the same style” option in that box was not clickable for some reason!
In fact, I would like to find a way to remove ALL the line breaks and the paragraph breaks, leaving all of the text together if possible.
This is because we need to copy and paste large amount of text and then print it out for the reaserchers.
Keeping the text together would save a lot of paper.
Deleting the space between the lines and paras is very time consuming:)
Can you please help?
Thank you for your time.

How about if I want to remove extra lines between paragraphs in Word 2003? Whenever I copy and paste from a document composed in Word 2007, I get not only their extra line, but Word 2003 adds another one. Very annoying, and time-consuming to remove.

After more than a year of screaming at my computer for this problem, I think I found the answer. Go to Word Options, select Advanced, at the bottom beside “Use smart cut and paste” click Settings. Unclick the second option “Adjust paragraph spacing on paste.”

Word 2007. I set the paragraph spacing to “0″, but had to do it over & over quite a few times, then it seemed to “take” & I didn’t have to reset it each and every blessed time I started a new line – it simply, finally, “took” – at least for that document.

Line and paragraph breaks are automatic. Some HTML allowed: <a href="" title="">, <b>, <i>, <strike>
